Correct steering wheel sells on Ebay

Well you may all remember my massive task to find the correct steering wheel as used in the movie Gone in 60 Seconds, posted HERE.

Well one has come up on Ebay and has sold for a whopping $USD513.97 This just goes to show how rare these wheels are.

Here’s a run down of the auction:

For sale, purchased in 2003 for an Eleanor build up from Branda. Never used in new condition. One steering wheel, hub, and GT500 horn button as used on Eleanor cars. This is a wood steering wheel, will work on tilt columns unless hub is modified. Purchase price was 428.00 when new, offered at less then half. Please email with other questions. Thank you.

On Jul-03-07 at 10:12:01 PDT, seller added the following information:

A correction to the original description. The steering hub will not work with tilt away columns unless modified. Also will not work with flaming river columns unless a new hub is purchased.

You can view the auction HERE.

The correct movie steering wheel had more rivets than the one easily found today that has around 9. The 17/18 rivet wheel was originally made in France for Lecarra steering wheels but once production was stopped in and around 2002 the wheels vanished completely. They returned last year being made in American for Lecarra but the quality was noticeably not the same and they only sported 9 rivets.
