Nissan RB26 Powered Mustang
Some of you rev heads may have seen The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift from a few years back and some of you may have missed it all together, but one of the most intriguing things in the movie was a 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback powered by a Nissan RB26DETT which is originally found in the holy grail of all Japanese performance cars, the Nissan Skyline GT-R. The twin-turbocharged inline six delivers about 320-330 horsepower….

There was a lot of bickering about this due to the fact the vintage enthusiasts were angry that a iconic car had it’s heart ripped out and replaced with a modern Japanese engine, while the modern Japanese car lovers were angry such an engine was placed in such an ‘unworthy’ car.
There are definitely some vintage Mustang enthusiasts who think that classic Mustangs should only have real Ford Mustang parts, especially when it comes to something as important as the engine.
Here’s some information on the unique car.
Though if you’re interested in buying the car you can do that also. The Volo Auto Museum is selling one of the actual movie cars. There’s no price tag attached but i bet it’s not cheap.
