Unique Performance – Bankrupt!

Well it’s official and really no surprise but only 10 days after Police confiscated 64 cars due to alleged title washing Unique Performance, the once reputable company, has filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.

I know I know!! It’s like flogging a dead horse but still worth posting as not everyone has seen it. Seems some Unique Performance customers have gotten so fed up they have created personal websites berating the troubled company.

1968 Bullitt Mustang Clone

Speaking of the Bullitt Mustang, I just received these images from my builder of a 1968 Fastback he’s restoring into a 1968 Bullitt Clone. I don’t have much info on it but thought I would post the pictures up anyway.

Foose Design sevre ties with Unique Performance

It seems everyone is trying to distance themselves from the Unique Performance fiasco and the latest to jump ship is Foose Design and the companies namesake, Chip Foose. In a statement released last week the company said effective immediately they have “terminated all licensing and all business activities with Texas-based Unique Performance, Unique Performance Concepts and related companies.”

This latest news has to be another kick in the guts for the Texas based Unique Performance who are facing criminal charges for alleged title washing not to mention court action for breach of copyright on the ‘Eleanor’ name. The latest news in is Unique is going chapter 7 (liquidation of all assets). From all accounts Unique Performance is dead.

2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt

A new Mustang is ripping up roadways 40 years after a legendary on-screen car chase. Ford have just released the new 2008 Bullitt Mustang.

The 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt is an update of the 1968 pony car driven by Steve McQueen in the movie Bullitt.

Last year the car chase scene in Bullitt was chosen as the best of all time. The 2008-version goes on sale in January. Ford will produce just 7700 for the American market, with a starting price of $US31,075 ($35,255) .

Unique Performance ex-staff tells all!

Strong words indeed. I was reading the good stories over at Mustang Blog and saw this post about an ex-employee of Unique Performance telling how things really were on the inside.

It really seems the place has well and truly fallen apart. Especially if you go to their website which has only recent been pulled down, allthough their second site Unique Performance Products is still alive and kicking. I really feel for the people who still have money invested with them. I was lucky that I only bought a few hundred dollars worth of stuff and after months of hassling I finally got them! I guess I was lucky.

Bosch Xenon projector headlights arrive

They’ve arrived! The Bosch Xenon projector headlights with D2S bulbs are here, along with the ballasts and wiring harness.

They look fantastic however I have found some issues I’m a little worried about. I couldn’t get them on camera but you can tell the resin used to seal up the casing produced some kind of (Read more…)

Fitting the Shelby rear taillights!

The Shelby taillights have been fitted and the side exhaust tips are being worked on. It’s coming down to the little odds and end with the whole kit fitting.

Well after a very demoralising weekend having been told the bill for the body work, fitting the kit and labour I’ve finally feeling a bit better after getting some more photos! No matter how much this project is costing me all my worries and fears dissipate when i see the old girl taking shape.

Unique Performace raided – Police confiscate 64 cars!!

Wow! It seems to go from bad to worse for Unique Performance and Shelby Automotive Inc with news the police have confiscated 64 cars from their Farmers Branch factory. The police are now investigating Unique Performance for allegedly running a scam.

After receiving an email from a disgruntled victim CBS11 TV has been doing their own investigating on Unique Performance and has found some possible dodgy practices going on, including that of VIN numbers allegedly being scraped off cars and the Farmer s Branch Police say they have evidence that the titles on some of the cars are fraudulent.

Unique Performance’s CEO, Douglas Hasty has now gone to ground and refuses to comment on the allegations only stating through his attorney that the company has done nothing wrong and has documentation on all vehicles to prove it.
