How Does A GT500KR Become KITT? The New Knight Rider

So we’ve all seen the teaser trailers and short trailers, and we’ve all seen the pictures and media launch videos but have you ever wondered how a brand new Shelby GT500KR became the star of the new Knight Rider series on NBC?

“The original KITT was an ‘82 Pontiac Trans Am and by the time the TV series went off the air in ‘86, even then it was starting to look old and pokey. Plus today’s 12-year-olds just don’t care about ancient Pontiacs.” (Read more…)

Back in April last year I reported about RRS’s new Strut Tower Brace’s and Under Dash Brake Booster. Well it’s been a good 8 months but they are now available to purchase.

$400,000 1967 Shelby GT500 Air Con Test Car

Yet another unique piece of Shelby history has popped up on eBay, this time is a one of a kind test car that was used to experiment with air conditioning for the 1967 GT500’s. The car is a green 1967 Shelby GT500. Unfortunately the seller gives no further information except that the car comes with a full history and appropriate documentation to back it up. A letter from Carroll Shelby is also provided which verify that the car was used in testing when making the super snake. (Read more…)

eBay find – 103 Mustangs For Sale…. In One Auction!

Owning just one mustang is enough for some people but for this owner and collector one wasn’t enough, try 103, including a very rare 1968 Blue Shelby GT500KR and a 1969 Shelby GT500 all for the low low price of US $950,000

Barrett-Jackson 2008: 1968 Shelby GT500E sells for $140,000

I posted about this only yesterday but may as well follow up on it. The 1968 Shelby GT500E (that appeared to be one of Unique Performance’s Shelby Continuation vehicles) has sold today at the Barrett-Jackson auctions in Scottsdale Arizona for a neat $140,000.

It seems ironic that after all the drama with Unique Performance that the owner of this car has decided to sell it off. (Read more…)

Barrett-Jackson 2008: Shelby GT500KR Goes For $605,000

A final sale price of $605,000 (After auction fees) has been reached on the one-off glass-roofed Shelby GT500KR. Bidding began at $100,000. The proceeds of the auction will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). (Read more…)

Shelby Valve Covers and Eleanor Buckets Arrive
