I’ve previously posted about the early Mustang prototype and now here’s some information on another early Mustang prototype that was put together by legendary Italian car designer Giugiaro Bertone.
Bertone is credited with designing some of the best-selling cars in the world from Ferrari’s to Alfa Romeo’s and BMW’s so this Mustang baffles me a bit about how it fits into the picture. In 1965 Bertone produced the car for Automobile Quarterly founder L. Scott Bailey. (Read more…)

The investigation into Unique Performance’s alleged title washing has been wrapped up and the Farmer’s Branch Police Department has prepared 25 felony cases against the executives of Unique Performance.
As reported earlier, inmates from two Texas correctional facilities were used by Unique Performance to help build their cars. Investigators believe the inmates were illegally removing vehicle identification numbers from cars. Police say they don’t anticipate filing criminal charges against inmates, instead they’re focusing their investigation on who within the company gave the inmates orders to tamper with the VINS. Last week I reported on the 1964 Playboy Playmate of the year, Donna Michelle’s, 1965 ‘Playmate Pink‘ Convertible and how it has surfaced here in Australia with the shop who are building my car.
Well this week it had some paint work done on it and here are the pictures. (Read more…)

The Unique Performance saga gets more and more astonishing by the day with information now coming to light that Unique Performance used Texas prison inmates to help build the cars. Cars that some customers paid up to $200,000 for.
Celebrities, star athletes and wealthy business people all paid a North Texas company big money for a one-of-a-kind collectible. But police say they got scammed. The story has rattled so many cages that the Texas Governor and the US Secret service are now paying close attention to and the Police now say “Charges are imminent” (Read more…)

Eleanor replicas on ebay are no big deal these days, just see here. But you don’t often see them on ebay in Australia. I previously reported on one that was up for sale. Not the best car but good to see one in Australia. Now another has popped up. Again this one is kind of a half-replica. Parts of the kit, the paint and the wheels.
By the look of it the lower valance has been used but not the upper front valance and for this reason they have used a standard hood. Keep in mind that the ‘Eleanor’ hood is longer than a normal 67 hood. So without the ‘Eleanor’ valance the Eleanor hood would stick way out over the front. (Read more…)

You may all wonder why there are so few updates on my car these past few weeks and months. One reason is money, but the main reason is the amount of work my builder has going on at the moment. A nice Bullitt clone is one, but this beauty is the other.
Here is a great piece of history that’s very close to home, literally. It’s Donna Michelle’s 1965 ‘Playmate Pink’ convertible Mustang. Some say these are extremely rare and from what I can find out it is! (Read more…)

That’s right, you heard it here first! Halicki Films Company, producer of the motion picture “Gone in 60 Seconds,” have announced that Classic Recreations have been selected as the exclusive, first ever, officially-licensed custom fabricator to build the iconic “Eleanor” Mustang from “Gone in 60 Seconds.” “Eleanor” captured everyone’s hearts in her reprisal role in the 2000 feature film “Gone in 60 Seconds,” (Read more…)

With only a few days away before NBC’s 2-hour movie length premier of the new Knight Rider series I though I’d give you a final insight into the making of the program and also show you what Jay Leno thinks of KITT, the Shelby GT500KR.
Last week I posted about how KITT came about, it’s inception from a standard Mustang into the menacing ‘attack’ vehicle we have all seen.
Now for the show itself, and (Read more…)
