Barrett-Jackson 2011: Scottsdale
The annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction kicks off again very soon. January in fact. And again there are some nice custom 1967 Mustangs to go under the hammer.
First off is lot 997. An award winning custom 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback built by Classic Design Concepts. The car titled ‘Flashback’ has been fortunate enough to count the following as it’s acheivments; SEMA 2008 Ford Best in Show and Outstanding Achievement in Design. Hot Rod magazine feature and cover, Top Ten 2008. Mustang Monthly, 45 most influential Mustangs of all time. First place in Street Machine Class, Wooward Dream Cruise, Invitational Dream Cruise 2009. Feature and cover of Modified Mustangs and Fords magazine. Eyes on Design, 2009 Concours award Detroit Institute of Opthalmology.
The car is powered by a 5.4L supercharged GT500 crate engine coupled with a Tremec T56 6-speed transmission and Currie 9″ differential. The car has all the mod cons including some Australian parts from RRS which include RRS power rack & pinion steering, RRS adjustable coilover billet front shocks with 1 1/8″ stabilizer.
But I think it’s custom Sherwin-Williams Planet Blue Pearl with Vintage Gold stripes paint job really gives the car a polished finish.
The second custom fastback, lot 1255.2, which I’ve got my eye on is the build from D&D Specialty Cars. A modern looking bright orange car that is clean all over. It’s a rotisserie restoration with a 351 Windsor that’s been rebuilt and changed to Hogan Fuel Injection. It’s running a C4 transmission and the running gear is brushed aluminium throughout. The car has also been awarded 2010 Top 5 Street Machine of the Year.
Two nice custom cars to keep an eye on for January.
