  1. hi my name is matthew im from batemans bay nsw australia…now leaving in america in ca.im looking at buying a shelby here in america do you think these new shells are the way to go our should i try and find a origanal shell

  2. Hey Matthew,

    Well these new shells are a great idea i believe. It takes the hassle out of trying to find a rust free straight shell to restore, and they are reasonably priced i think. You also don’t have to worry about hidden problems like covered up collisions and botched conversions etc.

    But the main problem i would wait to have a clear answer on before jumping in and buying one is how the VIN situation will work out. Are you issued a new VIN? can you transfer from a donor car, what are these bodies classified as? new cars? kit cars? i just don’t know how it will work. So that is something to research. Also check your local RTA or DMV about registration.

    Other than that it’s something i would have certainly considered if these were around when i was buying. Some purists will probably detest these things.. but I’m young and Australian, so i don’t really take the whole Mustang pride to heart :)
