Could this be the worst car faux pas of the decade? Well It brings tears to my eyes seeing this and has got to be the most absurd and in my opinion idiotic thing ever done to a Lamborghini. I don’t have anything to go off except the photos, and the fact the car was on display at SEMA in 2007. Basically they have taken a stock Lamborghini Gallardo and fabricated a Mustang around it. The result? A Mustang on the outside with Lamborghini power.

Although it does break my heart to see a Lamborghini end up like this I would love to see peoples faces when that Lambo sound comes from the back of what appears to be a Mustang.

Well it’s been a bit of a wait since we saw the intitial concept drawings of Classic Recreations new offering in partnership with Carroll Shelby, but now they have finally unveiled a prototype model that looks badass! checkout the pics after the jump.

The new models take some of the Eleanor stylings but also attempts to keep the vintage Shelby look. Believed to be starting at $US119,000 the base model will sport a 427 C.I Crate Engine pumping out a tidy 545 bhp while the top end ‘Venom’ model will crank out a whopping 780 bhp.

Well just about every Eleanor fan knows of or has seen pictures of Richard’s one-of-a-kind Super Snake Eleanor and last year I reported about how it was up for sale. Well now Richard has taken the next step and placed it on Ebay.

For those who don’t know Richard’s car has generated so much interest on this site that it is by far the most viewed post in this site’s history. With a buy it now price of $175,000 this car is no cheap buy, though the price has dropped fro mthe firm price of $250,000 that Richard was asking last year. but you can see from the below you’re getting a one-of-a-kind car that will give you lots of attention!

“In 1967, Carroll Shelby built (1) 1967 Super Snake Mustang with a 427FE engine, and planned on building a total of 50. But because of the $7500 price, there were no additional cars built. Carroll Shelby authorized Unique Performance to build 75 additional cars in 2001. Of those, only 16 or 17 were ever finished, making this car a “One Of A Kind” car with all the authorized Shelby parts. It is registered in the Eleanor World Registry as EWR #003. It won the 2007 MOCA (Mustang Owners Club of Austin) Ford & Mustang show with a Class Award and the more important Participants’ Choice (Drivers or Entrants Choice). The build of this car has been total documented, photographed and recorded. It started with a 1967 Fastback 289 2 barrel automatic non-Shelby car. With over 1200 pictures documenting the car from tear-down, media blasting, rotisserie restoration, etc over $122,000 was spent on on this car, and this does not count labor. Almost every part, nut and bolt was replaced with NEW items. The only remaining original parts on this car are the doors, glove box door, ash tray and a couple of interior trim pieces. All of this is documented on a spreadsheet, and is available upon request for serious bidders.”

She is fortunate enough to have the last Shelby Aluminum 427FE engine built by legendary race engine builder Keith Craft Racing (builder of all the Shelby Super Snake Eleanor Engines). It has been bored and stroked to 482ci. with a T Trim Vortech supercharger. Fast XFI Fuel Injection has been added and it has been dyno’d at 815bhp and 733 ft. lb. torque.

Backed up by a TKO 600 5 speed transmission and a 9” rear coilover axle this car has all the attributes of a modern performance car. The front end has been replaced with coilover suspension and a TCP rack & pinion steering kit. The car is pulled to a halt with Shelby/Baer 13” front disc brakes and 12” rear discs.

Well times are slow over here in Australia regarding updates of all the cars I’m following (including my own) so I thought I’d share some Eleanor related humour that, quite frankly, is disturbing. I present to you the Toyota Twin Turbo Eleanor Supra!

At this years Tokyo Auto Salon students from Japan’s Saitama University’s automotive course presented their, errm, version of Eleanor based around a fourth generation (1993-2002) Toyota Supra sports coupe. It’s been dubbed the “Moto Supra”

This version brings all the memories flooding back of the Sierra Based Eleanor we saw a few years back and that Smat car version.

Whatever their reasoning I do thank them for putting a smile on my face as I’m sure it has to you too.

For a while now we’ve all been hearing about the Shelby authorised GT500CR soon to be released by custom coachbuilders Classic Recreations. We’ve poured over the concept impressions, the specs and pricing but we haven’t heard anything about when these cars will be released or at least begin production but now we do.

Most wouldn’t have noticed but late last week the Classic Recreation site was updated, sneakily with a small countdown at the bottom of the main page. and as I write this post it tells me we have 22 days and 11 hours until the “Shelby GT500CR World Debut” That tells me the debut should be around February 25th. So note it down, Hopefully we’ll see some great actual build shots. Stay tuned to this site for the debut!

Here’s another vintage video I came across recently and although it doesn’t show the Mustang shape we all know and love it does show you how the Mustang ‘project’ came about. It’s quite interesting how the common Mustang shape came from a radically looking experimental car.

So if you’re interested in seeing where the Mustang came from and how it came about from drawings on paper and an experimental sports car then grab a drink and give this video a look.

So I had to think for a little while on about if i wanted to post this or not. I decided to because it does involve Eleanor, specifically one of the movie cars, and as most people are still away on holidays (including me). So what were the cons I hear you ask? Well the woman in the video is rather annoying! (But easy on the eye I might add) But I’m sure you can put up with her until Eleanor shows her face.

This post is pre-prepared because as you read this I’m actually on the top of Africa. climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. If all is well I should be on the summit at sunrise on New Years Day.
