Fast n’ Loud Gas Monkey Garage’s 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible Restoration

We love nothing better than sleeping in on a Sunday and watching car shows and documentaries on repeat. Shows like Overhalin’, Chasing Classic Cars and Wheeler Dealers are among some favourites. Though one such show we love is Discovery’s Fast n’ Loud. If you haven’t seen it yet then you are missing out.

The show follows self-described petrol-sexual motorhead Richard Rawlings and mechanical prodigy Aaron Kaufmann as they search far-flung corners of the country for forgotten and derelict classic cars to restore at their Gas Monkey Garage. Heaps of rust are transformed into gleaming road warriors and sold to the top bidder.

Though what caught our eye recently was one episode in which a 1967 Mustang Convertible was restored. There’s an interesting twist at the end we don’t want to spoil for you. So take a look for yourself.

Through the wonders of the internet you can watch the entire episode on youtube. (But we’re not sure for how long)

[eBay] 1968 ‘Eleanor’ Mustang Fastback Takes Its Top Off

700 hours. That’s how long it took one man to create this one-of-a-kind Eleanor Mustang hard top convertible and although it’s not something you would usually see on a modified vintage Mustang it is something that doesn’t look too bad. The car is an original 1968 with a 302 putting out roughly 330hp.

“This car will be the talk of every show you go to. I looked for months for the right convertible but everything I found was rusted out. What I ended up doing is converting a rust free coupe. The frame is beefed up with an inner and outer reinforcement kit and is solid.” Reads the ebay ad.

At one stage the auction was up to $35,000 but was swiftly taken down after the owner received an offer he couldn’t refuse outside of the auction. The unique thing about this modded Mustang is the choice the owner has to go with the hard top or the soft top. Perfect all year round! We’ll take two!

Rare One-Off 1967 GT-500 convertible to be shown at Carlisle Ford Nationals

There was only one 1967 Shelby GT convertible ever built. This factory-equipped dual-quad ragtop was assigned to Carroll Shelby and later became the ’68 styling prototype & photographic car. This one of a kind car has recently been restored and will be on show at the 2012 Carlisle event on Friday June 1st. [Read more…]
