Touted as one of the most valuable Shelbys of all time this 1965 Shelby GT350R is one of only 36 ever produced. The GT350R was a track ready version that was a stripped down to reduce weight and improve its performance. The cars were void of things such as headliner, carpets, upholstery, rear seats, sound deadening and insulation.
This particular example, chassis number SFM5R106, recently went under the hammer at the RM auction in Monterey, CA and sold for a massive $990,000. Though the price did fit well between the estimated range of $900,000 – $1,300,000.
This car was originally owned by Richard Jordan and was raced in Midwestern SCCA national events until the early 1970s when the car was put into storage until 1986 when it was purchased and restored. The original Shelby American paperwork including invoices, titles, racing photos and more remains with the car.
We’d love to know who purchased this fine pony. Needless to say they would have a massive grin on their face right about now.
