Toby's Eleanor Now With Grills!

Tobys Eleanor Update Sept09 Cover Some good progress this week on Toby’s Project with the front end coming together quite nicely. John spent most of last weekend polishing the grills and we all agree they have come up nice. The idea was to try and get the car on all four wheels but that didn’t happen as John had yet more problems with the RRS gear. Speaking of RRS I’m still waiting for my rear package I orderded almost six months ago! yes SIX months waiting. Very frustrating! I should also have a very exciting update on my Xenon HID project for Eleanor in the next few days so stay tuned for that. Lots more photos coming soon as Toby’s comes together. It’s been slow times for my project but I do promise things will pick up as Toby’s comes to close which as you can see is not very far away! [gallery] ]]>

  1. I thought it was just me that was waiting for such a long time, i,ve been waiting for my shell and other components from RRS since november of last year. Makes you wonder if its worth waiting or going somewhere else for our gear. As a business owner myself i pride myself on delivering on time as best as i can, businesses that incur these type of issues usually don,t last long, i hope for there sake the gear is as good as i,m led to beleive. Your car looks good so far best of luck mate. Michael

  2. Hey Cameron,
Just curious, whose body kit did you use ? Maier ? Aeroform ? I know this is toby’s but I assume you guys have been going for the same ones.
Hope your RRS issue will get better, I am quite surprised of their service, this is unacceptable…
All the best and keep up the good work on this blog, i’m addicted to it πŸ™‚

  3. Michael – Yeah it doesn’t surprise me! they have told me they are waiting on a part from the states.. and i thought this was an aussie company with an aussie product.
Tastybonus – The kit both Toby and myself have used is an Australian kit made by a company in Melbourne. Thansk for the good words, glad you enjoy the site πŸ™‚

  4. I had a similar expereince with RRS. Only part of an order arrived and i had to wait a few weeks for the rest. Shocks i think are sourced from the States which can be a hold up. I also had to wait a while for some lower control arms and they don’t supply new bolts with their strut rods which is a bit of a pain. I’ve ordered some rear brakes off them now and have been told they should be delivered within a few days so we shall wait and see. Good gear though once it does arrive.

  5. Hi everyone,
I am the poor bugger who has the job of putting these together. πŸ™‚
The kit for both Toby’s and Cam’s cars came from Prototype Plus in Melbourne and are a nice kit, but you will still need to do a LOT of fitting and mucking about if you want everything perfect. If you want more info, just let me know. The kit is much better than any of the US kits and works out cheaper. On both Cam’s and Toby’s we have used Fibreglass front fenders which are made by the same guy and look a lot better than the original fenders with the flare glued on. If you would like more info on any of the products or the how’s, I may be able to put something together for Cam to post up. As long as it doesn’t take me away from the job at hand.
Now, in regards to RRS. Yes, they have had some supply issues and are working very hard to fix these problems. I have had a few problems along the way as well, but they have been very helpful in fixing any problems as soon as they are able. They have also been outstanding in providing product backup and technical help when needed. You will find that if you know how to handle a spanner you shouldn’t have any troubles fitting the gear yourself. I have fitted a fair bit of RRS gear to Mustangs now and find that it does improve the driving experience of these older style vehicle. We do need to have some patients with these guys as the product they supply is pretty much all that is available. They have done the hard yards in regards to ADRs and making the fitting of the products less of a headache when it comes to having engineering/compliance done on the vehicles. Almost all of the available products from overseas will not pass ADRs here and will cause major headaches. I speak from experience. By the way, I am in no way connected with RRS other than having used their products. I think that they are working pretty hard to improve the problems that they have had in the past and I am confident that they will continue to supply A1 products that will help us improve and enjoy these vehicles well into the future.
Anyway – if anyone has any questions just let Cam know so he can pass them on.

  6. Oh, btw guys. Give us some feedback on the grilles, do you think that the spacers should be painted Black to hide them a little better????

  7. Toby havn,t seen an update on your car for a while, must be close, put up some current pics if you get a chance. Just curious what are you guys doing about blinkers to the front, these kits don,t have a blinker spot,is anyone putting blinkers on there mirrors.
